Cyclist in hospital with serious injuries following Torquay crash

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink/drugs

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious crash involving a car and a pushbike on Abbey Road, Torquay, at 8.14pm yesterday (Thursday 9 June).

As a result of the collision, a 22-year-old cyclist received serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.

Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing officers have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

A 27-year-old man from Torquay has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drink/drugs and is in police custody.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage are urged to come forward and contact the police dialling 101 quoting log number 766 09/06/2022.
