Fire crews from 20 stations across Somerset and Devon have been helping tackle a fire in Porlock overnight - which saw two thatched properties caught alight

There were fears the fire could spread across the row of terraced properties,

Crews were called to the scene at around 7pm last night, after receiving reports of a fire on a row of houses.

Residents nearby are being told to keep their windows and doors closed - and to stay away from the Polock Weir area.

The latest update was at 4am which said: "Crews (are) making steady progress" after firefighters worked through the night to bring the incident under control.
