Fire crews are on the scene of what is believed to be a deliberate blaze in East Devon.

Teams were called to the site of a derelict building in Budleigh Salterton at 10.18pm last night (Sunday 20 February).

They have worked throughout the night to extinguish the fire and are now dampening down hotspots.

Crews from Danes Castle, Exmouth, Ottery St Mary and Middlemoor are in attendance.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said:

"Fire Engines were despatched to a derelict building during the evening of 20th February. Upon arrival crews confirmed that the building was well alight.

"Crews worked throughout the night with 45 mil jets and ground monitors to extinguish the fire, eventually using it to dampen down hotspots.

"The cause is believed to be deliberate."
