The Fire Service said eight appliances attended the scene at the Davy building along with specialist appliances.

A University of Plymouth building was evacuated after a chemical leak.

They added that the building was evacuated and all persons accounted for.

Crews remain at the scene checking gas levels and have isolated an oven where the fire service say the chemical reaction happened.

The Fire Service added that safety assessments will be carried out and environmental protection units are onsite to decontaminate crew and hazmat teams.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they were assisting fire fighters with traffic management.

The University of Plymouth said no one was hurt in the incident.
