Man dies after being found unresponsive in hotel room in Torquay

Police have confirmed that a man has died after being found unresponsive in a hotel room in Torquay.

Emergency services were called to the Torbay Road area on Friday afternoon (5th November) amid concerns for the welfare of a guest.

A man was found unconscious in his room and taken to the Torbay District Hospital.

Sadly he could not be saved.

Officers say the family of missing Tony Thompson from Paignton have been told.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called to a hotel in the Torbay Road area of Torquay on the afternoon of Friday 5th November, following concerns for the welfare of a guest.

"Emergency services attended and found a man unconscious in his room.

"He was taken to Torbay District Hospital where he was later sadly declared deceased.

"The family of Tony Thompson from Paignton who was reported missing on Thursday 4th November, have been informed of this development.

"This death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
