The Bishop of Exeter speaks of thankfulness in his Christmas message this year.
The Rt Rev'd Robert Atwell says it 'makes us bigger people' and 'stops our hearts going rusty'.
Speaking from Dartmoor Tree Christmas Farm, he says whatever is at the heart of Christmas for you, he hopes that you can have a moment to 'stop, think, reflect and give thanks'.
Bishop Robert also reflects on the events of the pandemic, talking about the new COVID-19 variant Omicron and how we are 'once again experiencing Christmas with it tinged with uncertainty.'
However, he adds that we can choose 'whether to allow it to define us': "In the midst of our fear, anxiety and uncertainty, what does not change is the reality and meaning of Christ’s birth: Emmanuel: God with us.
"God is with us in the dark times as well as the light, in times of illness, loss, disappointment and difficulty, as well as in times of celebration and joy."

Bishop Robert also speaks about Christmas trees being the focal point of many homes at this time of year.
He then touches upon the story of Devon's patron saint Saint Boniface, who was born in Crediton and is credited with introducing Christianity to Germany.
Bishop Robert explains how legends tell that he was also responsible for the first Christmas tree - and whether you believe it or not, that they have an 'enduring place in our culture'.
He rounds off his message by wishing everyone a 'very happy Christmas'.
A charitable cause in Devon this Christmas...
The Brixham-based charity YES Brixham's annual Christmas Grotto - which is offered by donation - is delivered to local people every year and is staffed by their young volunteers.
This year, due to COVID, access was by appointment, with Santa personally delivering free personalised age and gender-specific presents to over 400 children.
They have created a Christmas music video with their community music group - MusicAtTheEdge - showcasing their Christmas Grotto, in the hope of raising awareness of the work they do.
