Axminster manslaughter suspect released on bail

It follows an incident in the area on Tuesday

A man Axminster who was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following an incident in the area has been released on bail until 8 August.

Devon and Cornwall officers were called to assist Avon and Somerset Police with enquiries being carried out in the Axminster area at around 10.30am on Tuesday (19 July).

It was reported to that the occupants of a car had left the scene in Lyme Road.

A short time later, a call was received from a member of the public regarding a further incident nearby.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man unconscious, and they immediately administered emergency treatment.

The man was taken to hospital in a critical condition and was later pronounced dead. His next-of-kin have been informed.

Devon and Cornwall Police is investigating the circumstances.
