Part of the A303 will be closed at night this week for surfacing, pothole repairs and drainage maintenance

National Highways says it will be carrying out a number of safety improvements between Southfields roundabout and the A30 junction west of Newcott from 8pm to 4am. During the day the road will be open as usual.

Julian Strong, Service Delivery Manager for National Highways, said: “We appreciate that roadworks can be frustrating, but we are making every effort to ensure the impact on the local community is kept to an absolute minimum.

“We’d like to thank motorists in advance for their patience while this essential safety and maintenance work is carried out.”

National Highways will be carrying out multiple tasks at various locations and where possible the noisiest works will be completed before 11pm, and access for residents will be maintained but may involve a short delay depending on the stage of work.

Somerset County Council also have a closure of the A358 in place at Hatch Beauchamp from 16 March for 13 nights and both National Highways and the council will be working together to ensure both works can take place safely and to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.
