Hundreds of pounds has now been raised by an 80-year-old Devon woman who's just walked 100 miles for the charity 'Devon in Sight'.

Delia Kennedy, who lives near Cullompton chooses a different charity each month and in the past she's raised funds for the Cornwall-based international disaster relief charity Shelterbox and Devon's St Petrock's homeless charity.

She said: "I'm just so grateful that I can do it at my age and whilst I'm able I'm very grateful that's why I'm doing it, because I'm grateful for my health and I know for anybody it can change tomorrow.

"I've done it for three years now and walked 1,000 miles a year and walked for a different charity this year and last year."

She said the recent weather conditions have made her latest challenge tougher, adding; " The weather has been a bit, well not quite so settled this year - it's been unpredictable."

Mineehad and Tiverton MP Rachel Gilmour said: "Delia should be extremely proud of herself because I'm very proud of her."

Mandy Darling, from charity Devon In Sight, called the pensioner an 'inspiration' saying there's 51,000 people with some form of sight loss across Devon.

She said: "Our services fall into four main areas, information advice and guidance, health and wellbeing, independent living and influencing change.

"The funds raised will have a positive impact on the lives of those living with visual impairment across the county."
