5 year old girl dies in collision in Honiton

A 5-year-old girl has died following a serious crash on the A35 near Honiton.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Fern Lane in Wilmington yesterday afternoon.

It was initially believed that multiple vehicles were involved, but it has since been confirmed that the collision was between two cars, a BMW and a Land Rover.

The girl who died was a pasenger in the BMW - an eight year old girl was also seriously injured, and remains in hospital, though her injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening.

The BMW driver, a man in his 30s, and a female passenger also in her 30s are in hospital with non-serious injuries - all four are from the Saltash area of Cornwall.

The driver of the Land Rover, a woman in her 50’s from the Tooting area of London area was taken to Dorchester Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
