A woman is in hospital after being found with serious injuries on the A52 in Derby.

She was found just before 1.10am on Thursday (11 May) near to a railway bridge on the eastbound carriageway, between The Pentagon Island and Cardinal Square.

Ambulance crews attended and she was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Police are investigating the circumstances around how she was injured. Officers want to speak to anyone who was driving on this stretch of the A52 between around 12.30am and 1.10am.

They would particularly like to speak to anyone with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.

Due to contact with officers prior to the incident, Derbyshire Police has self-referred to the Independent Officer for Police Conduct (IOPC), which is mandatory.
