Ellen White tops list of East Midlands New Year Honours
The striker started the Lionesses' EURO 22 winning final against Germany
Ellen White is one of the stand-out names on the 2022 New Years Honours list recognising achievements of remarkable individuals in the East Midlands.
White, who started the Lionesses' EURO 22 winning match against Germany, is from Derbyshire and originally Aylesbury.
She became the record goal scorer for the Women's National team with 52 goals, before retiring not long after football came home in the summer.
Awards for the East Midlands

- Clive Daniel Foster MBE, 58, for services to the Windrush Generation
- Veejaykumar Chimanlal Patel MBE, 59, for services to employment and training
- Natalie Olivia Gasson-McKinley MBE, 46, for services to businesses
- Jonathan Mark Hammond MBE, 55, for voluntary and charitable services
- Sally Cowan, MBE, 60, for services to sport
The individuals being recognised with a BEM (British Empire Medal):
- Patricia Jean Cargill BEM, 66, for services to NHS patients
- Angela Mary Painter BEM, 64, for services to the voluntary sector
- Pamela Jane Jefferson BEM, 71, for services to the Women's Institute
- Wendy Elizabeth Pease BEM, 83, for services to visually impaired people in Newark
