We are being urged to be careful on roads around Derbyshire today as there are still warnings in place for ice. Derbyshire Police are urging that we avoid areas in the High Peak and Dales if we can today and if we see a road is closed, no to attempt to cross it.

Derbyshire Police written on their Facebook:

"A very cold night means that significant parts of the north west of the county are difficult to navigate. High winds have caused snow to drift and clear skies have resulted in lots of ice.

!The continued advice is to only travel to or from the Dales and High Peak if you absolutely have to. If you do have to venture out then if there is a road closed sign please find another route - it will be closed for a good reason."

Derbyshire County Council have said:

"Hazardous conditions remain in the north west of the county due to snow and ice this morning with motorists being urged to avoid non-essential travel.

The following roads remain closed:

A57 Snake Pass

A53 Axe Edge

A6024 Holme Moss

A54/A537 Cat and Fiddle

Rushup Edge

Winnats Pass

B5053 (From A515 to Glutton Bridge)

A5270 Old Coalpit Lane

A515 Buxton to Ashbourne

"Please also avoid using the A515 Buxton to Ashbourne with severe drifting and vehicles becoming stranded.

"A yellow weather warning remains in place for ice in Derbyshire this morning and the possibility of further snow in the High Peak area this afternoon. High winds are also causing snow to drift across roads. Please take extra care if travelling.

"Our gritting crews have been out overnight treating primary and secondary routes where possible and will begin clearing drifting snow from closed roads this morning."
