Gusts are forecast to continue, closely followed by snowfall especially over high ground as temperatures fall.

Derbyshire experienced high winds during Friday lunchtime and into the afternoon.

Mountain Rescue teams advised walkers to avoid moorlands, woods and exposed areas.

A driver and passenger escaped with minor injuries as a lorry was blown over on to a car, with Derbyshire Police warning drivers of high sided vehicles to take extra care.

The A6 was closed as crews dealt with the incident. A tree also blew over blocking part of the A57 Snake Pass between Glossop and Ladybower.

Winds are expected to ease tonight, with wintry showers and snow tonight and tomorrow in the Peak District.
