Walker dies after a fall in the Peak District

A walker has died after falling whilst out in the Peak District.

Edale Mountain Rescue say they were contacted by East Midlands Ambulance Service to reports of a walker who had fallen and was unconscious with a head injury above Speedwell Cavern, on Easter Saturday evening (April 8th).

The service go on to say:

"A group of friends visiting the area for the weekend had been making their way off the hill when one slipped and tumbled a distance, sustaining a serious head injury during the fall.

"Local team members arrived on scene at the same time as an ambulance crew and team paramedic."

The walker was sadly pronounced deceased at scene, however. Members of the service have extended condolences to the family and friends of those involved.
