Two men assaulted following collision in Derby

Two men have been assaulted after a two-car collision in Derby this morning (March 5).

Derbyshire Police have confirmed they were called out to the Sunnyhill area at 5.25am to reports of a collision.

It is reported to have happened between a grey BMW 120D and a grey Renault Clio on Dryden Street.

Two men from the Renault were assaulted by a group of five or six men from the BMW – who then ran off in the direction of the Premier store in Blackmore Street.

The two men have been taken to hospital where they are being treated for serious injuries.

Officers say they are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, who lives in the area and has CCTV, or drivers who were in the area and may have dashcam footage that captured what happened.

Residents are also told they will see an increased police presence in the area following the incident as officers continue their enquiries into the incident.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident.
