Two people have denied murdering a 10-month-old boy who was found unresponsive on Christmas Day in 2020.

Stephen Boden, 29, and Shannon Marsden, 21, are accused of murdering Finley Boden and two counts of child neglect.

Derbyshire Police previously said paramedics were called to a house in Old Whittington, Chesterfield, in the early hours of December 25 2020, where the boy was found.

Finley was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Boden and Marsden pleaded not guilty to all charges at Derby Crown Court on Friday, including further allegations of supplying and possessing cannabis.

Finley... suffered multiple fractures and burns

It is alleged they failed to seek medical assistance for Finley after he suffered multiple fractures and burns.

The defendants are also accused of assaulting the youngster in a way that was "likely to cause unnecessary suffering".

The charges of neglect are alleged to have taken place between November 17 and December 25, 2020.

Boden, of Barrow Hill, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and Marsden, of no fixed abode, were remanded back into custody to appear at the same court on May 20.
