A Tutbury man has been reunited with his wedding ring , after loosing it during a muddy charity event.

Lee Armstrong realised he lost it during 'Tough Mudder', a race which takes on a very challenging obstacle course at Belvoir Castle. Lee noticed it had gone missing when taking on an 8 foot high wall: "We had to climb over and as I came down the other side of the wall, suddenly I noticed that the that the ring was missing.

"I was quickly and frantically looking round on the other side of the wall. It wasn't there. Nicki saw me and she was straight away asking what is wrong, what happened, and I said it was gone."

Lee and the team decided to head home, and had another brainstorm on what to do next: "The first thing my son said was, well, why don't you get metal detector? We just put a little post out on Facebook asking if anybody had a metal detector we could borrow and the amount of offers of help that we got from people was immediate."

The family were also offered help from a veteran's metal detector society: "We went back on Friday morning and met with about six of them that turned up and we had our three metal detectors as well and and off we trotted to try and find this ring.

Lee said it was a moment of relief when they found it in five minutes: "I was just overjoyed and I could not believe it. It was still sat on the top or just underneath a tuft of grass."
