A man accused of murdering a mother-of-one by allegedly ramming her off an e-bike before fleeing the scene is expected to go on trial next year.

Keaton Muldoon, 23, is charged with the murder of Alana Armstrong, 25, attempted murder of Jordan Newton-Kay, and driving while disqualified in connection with an collision in Batley Lane, Pleasley, Derbyshire, at around 8pm on November 26.

Muldoon, of Tuckers Lane, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, appeared at Derby Crown Court on Monday by video link from HMP Nottingham and spoke only to confirm his name.

Judge Shaun Smith set the trial date for May 19 next year at the same court.

Derbyshire Police said Ms Armstrong, a mother to a six-year-old boy and from Tibshelf, was riding pillion on the e-bike before she was knocked off and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a dark-coloured 4x4 vehicle allegedly followed two e-bikes before ramming one of them.

The rider of the bike, who is aged in his 20s, has had part of his leg amputated since the collision, police said.

Officers have since recovered a vehicle, a dark-blue Land Rover Discovery, and launched an appeal on Friday to find the person who left a note on the windscreen while it was parked in Mansfield overnight on November 26.

The judge told Muldoon, who wore a grey hoodie: "Mr Muldoon, I'm remanding you back into custody. The next time you are due before the court is a long way away."

The judge said the trial was expected to last two to three weeks
