Two Derbyshire women have opened a sewing workshop to help people with their mental health.

The 'safe space' is based in Ripley at Wellbeing Crafts on Church Street. It is run by Jane Hufton and Tracie Littlewood who both have a background of working with mental health.

The workshop can also be prescribed by doctors for any patients they think may benefit from it.

Jane and Tracie said it's about bringing people together: "A big thing for us integration. It's about anybody who is struggling with their mental health who wants to learn to be creative. It's about being accepted by the wider community and reducing the stigma of mental health.

"We actually care and I think everybody suffers to an extent from their own mental health for whatever reason it may be, and we don't want you to feel left out and we don't want you to feel like you don't matter, because you do."

They said it will be an intimate space: "One of the things that are appealing about us is that our workshops are really small, so it's never going to be overwhelming. We have plenty of time for one-to-one time for individuals who need a bit more support.

"I think it's going to be great fun, I think we're going to have a really good laugh doing it and enjoying it and hopefully, make people relax and just have fun!"
