The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games starts on 28 July 2022. As a countdown to the start, the Baton Relay is to pass through Derbyshire today (Monday 11 July).

At 3.00pm, a convoy will arrive at the new Moorways Sports Village Derby and the first baton bearer will prepare to get the relay underway. It'll then head to the city centre and Market Place at just after 4pm, with local road closures in place.

The Queen's Baton will visit the Heights of Abraham at around 4.45pm, travelling up, around the Victoria Prospect Tower and back down again.

It will then travel to Bakewell by convoy where there is expected to be a circuit of the Recreation Ground from around 5.30pm.

The baton will be transferred from Bakewell to Buxton by convoy, though there will not be an opportunity to see it from the roadside en route.

The relay is set to arrive at Buxton's Pavilion Gardens at around 6.20pm and the baton will be carried on a route through the gardens by 7 Batonbearers.

It will finish at the bandstand at around 6.40pm where there will be a short celebration including speeches and an operatic performance from the Buxton International Festival.

Our reporters will be en-route talking to some of the people involved.
