A public inquiry will be held into plans for a huge solar farm near Alfreton.

KS SPV 61 Ltd, ran by Kronos Solar, are appealing for the 310-acre site, at at Hall Farm, off Church Street, to be approved.

Amber Valley Borough Council initially rejected the scheme last December following over 750 objections from residents.

At the time, the firm behind the site plans expressed their disappointment over the move which they say would have helped achieve climate targets.

Now the campaign group, which formed to lobby against the farm, Save Alfreton Countryside, says:

"We will be mounting a robust defence of our case against Kronos's ill conceived solar farm."

Councillors say plans were too large, in the wrong place preferring sides of industrial buildings and using brownfield land. Opposition was also voiced about the impact on the countryside.

However, a six-day public inquiry will now be held in South Normanton between October 18-21 and November 1-2 at the Post Mill Centre, Market Street, where a Government planning inspector will make a decision on the appeal.
