Police investigating reports a ten year old girl was grabbed by a woman in Ilkeston

Police in Ilkeston are appealing for witnesses following reports a woman grabbed a 10 year old girl's wrist.

It happened in Nottingham Road earlier this month.

The woman let go when a man who was driving past stopped to intervene.

A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said:

"We are appealing for anyone who saw an assault in Ilkeston to come forward and help with our investigation.

"We received a call just after 4.10pm on Friday 12 May reporting that a woman had grabbed a ten-year-old girl’s wrist.

"The woman let go when a man, who was driving along Nottingham Road, stopped his car and intervened.

"We are keen to hear from the man and anyone who witnessed what happened and has information which could help with our enquiries.

"Anyone with information about the incident can contact us, quoting reference number 23*288225."
