A two-day music festival involving up to 500 people could be held at a Derbyshire campsite.

Hankin Farm Campsite in New Road, Alderwasley, between Belper, Wirksworth and Alfreton, wants to host the festival.

It has applied to Amber Valley Borough Council for a premises licence to host the event from Friday, June 24 until Saturday June 25.

A decision will be made by the borough council in the next few weeks.

If approved, the festival would see live and recorded music played from 5pm until midnight on the Friday and 10am until midnight on the Saturday.

Meanwhile, alcohol would be on sale from 5pm until midnight on the Friday and 12pm until midnight on the Saturday.

A maximum of 500 tickets are on offer for the event, the applicant details.

It says the barn on the farm and a fenced outdoor area adjacent to the barn, along with marquees on the neighbouring field would be used for the event.

In its application it says: “Live bands and individuals alternating between the barn and marquee amplified and unamplified music.

“Recorded music alternating between the barn and outdoor marquee.

“The event is limited to 500 people. Everyone will purchase tickets prior to the event and will be given wristbands.

“Adults will have a different coloured band to children. No children will be served alcohol.

“Tickets will be checked and anyone without a ticket will be turned away.”

The application says noise levels will be monitored and stewards will be stationed throughout the barn and field areas.

It says: “No alcohol will be served to anyone showing signs of being drunk.

“Anyone becoming aggressive, abusive or inebriated will be asked to leave the event.”

The campsite is already advertising the event on its Facebook page, saying it will be for the Whatstandwell Festival.

It says: “For the weekend of the 24th and 25th of June the campsite will only be open to people attending the Whatstandwell Festival, as a result of this we have not allocated any pitches for pre booking via Pitchup, this is to ensure only people attending the festival will be camping.

“Please rest assured that we will have pitches available for purchase for everyone attending the festival on the day.”

A poster for the event details that dogs are welcome at the festival but they must be kept on leads.

Performing on the Friday will be Midnight Pumpkin Trucks, Newcranes, and Natterajcks and there will be 90s disco and fancy dress.

Meanwhile, performing on the Saturday, there will be Spam, Lil’ Jim, Laura Kelly, Weathered Eye, Wussalelle, Big Enjoyment, Declan Kitts, and Adam and Amy.

Food and drink offers will include real ale, lager, cider, wine, a fire pit, street food and pizza.

Activities include yoga, circus skills and a ‘Frosty’ wood carving demonstration.

Adult tickets are on sale for £22.15, tickets for people aged 12-17 are £11.37 and entrance for children aged up to 11 are free.
