Police say Josh Carter was one of two victims involved in the stabbing in Cheapside in the early hours of Saturday 14 August
A murder investigation is underway in Derby after a man died after being stabbed in Cheapside on Saturday 14 August.
Josh Carter was taken to hospital in Nottingham after the double stabbing, and a 17-year-old boy remains in hospital with life-changing injuries.
Derbyshire Police say an 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with attempted murder, GBH and possession of knife in public.
He's been remanded to prison.
Detective Chief Inspector Sally Blaiklock, who is leading the team investigating the incident, said: “Firstly I want to express my condolences on behalf of the force to the family and friends of Josh.
“The incident that took place over the weekend has understandably shocked the community and I would urge anyone with information to come forward and help the officers investigating the death of Josh, along with the serious injuries suffered by the other victim.
“From footage that has already been reviewed by the team, it is clear a number of people were using their phones to record both the incident, and the moments leading up to it.
“I would ask that anyone with footage that can assist in our enquiries pass it to the force, which you can do in confidence.
“I would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information that may be able to assist, to come forward.”
