More antisocial behaviour expected in Derbyshire this weekend
There are likely to be more calls to the Police as people celebrate Halloween
The Police are already predicting more cases of antisocial behaviour this weekend as people celebrate Halloween on nights out around the county.
The kind of incidents can not only pose a threat to the safety of individuals, communities and the environment but can also be problematic for residents in city centres who are affected by the noise.
Derbyshire Police Federation is expecting the next few days to be busier than ever with it being the first Halloween out of lockdown.
Continued pressure on services
The worry is that with then number of police officers being at a smaller figure than the Federation would like, that services will be stretched over the next couple of days.
The Chair of the Derbyshire Police Federation Tony Wetton said: "We've got enough to do without dealing with these antisocial behaviour incidents. But if people need to phone the police, the police will respond. If actually, you don't need to phone the police, if it's not an emergency and you can phone 111 or report it online, that helps."
"Derbyshire has a number of police, they are run ragged. And all this extra demand comes from people working extra hours, much needed rest days being cancelled, working late shifts and all that. So Halloween... demanding. Bonfire night... demanding."
"When we talk about extra police on. Extra police on for this project. Extra police for that project. Extra police in Nottingham for the needle spike scare that's going on. There are no extra police."
