Acer Price, 29, of Buck Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield, was sentenced to three-and-a-half-years in jail at Stafford Crown Court.

The incident took place at a property on Tutbury Road between in January this year.

Details of the offence and Price’s image was shown on BBC Crimewatch Live in March, in an appeal for members of the public to provide information as to his whereabouts.

Price was arrested in Nottinghamshire on 26th March.

Rich Dancey, Detective Sergeant at Staffordshire Police, said:

“The loss of greatly sentimental and valuable jewellery, combined with the scale of the damage caused, incurred significant distress to the victim and their family. Price pleaded guilty at an early opportunity, and his prison sentence reflects this.

“Hopefully, this will provide some closure for the victim and demonstrate that Staffordshire Police will continue to pursue offenders who cause harm to our communities and place them before the courts in order to bring them to justice.”
