A man has been charged with attempted murder after officers were called to reports of a stabbing in Chesterfield.

Police were alerted by paramedics just before midnight on Sunday 3 July to a woman who had been found outside a property on Meynell Close in Brampton with a number of stab wounds.

They arrested a man nearby shortly after the report, which is believed to be an isolated incident.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment but has now been discharged and is continuing to recover.

Macauley Cummins of Cauldon Drive, Holme Hall, was charged and appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Monday 4 July, the following day.

The 26-year-old is due to appear at Derby Crown Court in August.
