Man charged over knife offences

Officers are beginning a week of action on knife related crime

A man has been charged and remanded for knife crime offences after an incident in Derby on Sunday.

Officers were called to Shepherd Street, Littleover shortly after 2pm on 15 May following a report that a 41-year-old man had been injured.

Thomas Dexter, of Elvaston Drive, Littleover, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possessing a knife in a public place.

The 38-year-old was subsequently charged and remanded into police custody ahead of an appearance at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court this morning (Monday 16 May).

At today’s hearing Magistrates remanded Mr Dexter into prison custody and he is next due to appear at Derby Crown Court on 13 June.

Officers say they're highlighting incidents like this as part of Operation Sceptre, the national week of action to tackle knife crime, which runs from 16 May to 22 May.
