Man arrested after high speed police chase down M1 in Derbyshire

He's due in court accused of a range of driving offences

A man has been arrested after police were led on a high speed chase down the M1 in Derbyshire by a car with false plates.

It happened on Sunday night close to Derby. The car attempted to escape by driving the opposite way down the A6. Police vehicles were rammed during the chase.

18 year old Johnny Connors of Woodside Caravan Park in Ryton-in-Dunsmore, Warwickshire, is accused of being nearly three times the legal limit, dangerous driving, failing to stop, no licence, no insurance and criminal damage to police vehicles.

He'd also been wanted for alleged weapons offences.

He was due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court at 10am this morning.
