Café in Buxton creates unique Well Dressing artwork from Lego
With the help of the community, they created a stained glass window of Arnemetia - the towns Goddess of Healing Springs
A café in Buxton has created what is thought to be the world's FIRST well dressing artwork made from... LEGO!
Brick Corner Café, with the help of the community, created a stained glass window of Arnemetia. It is all part of their Well Dressing Festival, a celebration when the town gives thanks for the spring waters.
Artwork is normally created using wood, clay, petals and other natural ingredients but café owner Dave Lydford and his wife, Dorcas, wanted to create one from the plastic bricks.
Dave said it was a long process: "It was bigger than I anticipated and the design was more complex than I thought it would be.
"The design took about 80 hours to produce to get it to the point where we were able to make it, and then it's taken basically the whole of June to actually build it."
He said he couldn't have done it without people in Buxton: "I think I may have set a precedent for next year.
"We ran out a Lego at one point. We appealed to the public for donations as well, so the community really came to our assistance and helped us to complete it."
