The device, believed at first to be dynamite was found not to be viable
An investigation has begun after a member of the public discovered a package, at first believed to be dynamite, outside a Chesterfield building.
Specialist police teams were called just before lunchtime yesterday, to Stonegravels Lane.
A 100 metre cordon was put in place and part of the A61 was closed, causing travel chaos.
After inspections, The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) confirmed was not viable and disposed of it.
The road has reopened and the cordon lifted.
