Houses evacuated after suspicious items found at house in Chesterfield
Officers attended a house in Shakespeare Street at Holmewood
People living at several properties were told to leave following the discovery just after 9.25am today (Monday 6th December).
A cordon remains in place and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team on site. Homes have been evacuated at Shakespeare Street.
There are road closures currently in place at the junction of Rosewood Way, Shakespeare Street and Lawrence Avenue. As well as a closure between Lawrence Avenue at the junction with Masefield Avenue.
Residents are asked to stay away from the area and those asked to vacate will be contacted when it is safe to return.
A man has been arrested and remains in police custody.
