High Peak Foodbank says more need help

The organisation has seen demand increase in recent months

Zink - the High Peak Foodbank, has noted an increase in people across the High Peak borough and parts of the Derbyshire Dales using their services.

Paul Bohan of the organisation says the cause could be down to the impact of higher energy costs:

"The increase in bills is going to affect the poorest families, and with the client group we work with there are quite a lot of people who can't manage on the budget they've currently got.

"Usually at this time of year our stocks are high because of donations over Christmas and from the harvest season. We normally give out seven days worth of food parcels, which we have had to reduce to five days due to levels being down.

"Between 2014 and 2019 we noticed that the number of people using the foodbank had actually reduced. Since last September, however, we've noticed more people requiring extra support."
