As Derbyshire braces itself for another spell of hot temperatures, we're urged to enjoy the Peak District responsibly.

During July's heatwave a fire affected around 1 hectare of land at Win Hill Edge near Ladbybower.

Firefighters went on to find a camping stove, two disposable barbecues and the remains of a campfire.

Ranger Rob Kenning told us about the damage fire caused across the national park:

"I've seen birds' nests which have been burnt out and just the eggs remaining. Obviously it causes widespread disruption to habitat and wildlife.

"We've seen the damage in terms of wildfires caused by naked flames. Act to protect the wildlife and the 40,000 people who live or work in the area, along with the visitors who come to enjoy the open space.

"If you're planning on coming to the countryside in the high temperatures, remember the basics - a hat, suncream. Plus, if you have a dog with you please think of them too. Don't drag them out in the heat of the day. Enjoy the area responsibly."
