Firefighters tackle blaze in Burton

Firefighters have been in attendance at a large fire at a business premises on Derby Road in Stretton.

Crews were called at 7.40am this morning following reports of a plume of smoke being spotted in the area.

Firefighters from Burton, Cannock, Rugeley, Tamworth and Tutbury have been on the scene at the Rumenco building.

No one has been reported injured.

Crews have used two main jets to extinguish the fire which spread to approximately 30m by 30m.

Staffordshire Police are also in attendance and have closed Derby Road up to the A38 and Hawkins Lane.

Drivers have been asked to avoid the area.

Nearby residents are advised to close their windows and doors.

Plus nearby businesses and residents may have their water supply disrupted.
