Emergency services say a fire in Derbyshire was started deliberately. Crews were called to Stanton-by-Dale overnight to a disused building on an industrial estate.

A Derbyshire fire spokesperson said:

"An investigation into the cause of a fire at a building on Lows Lane in Stanton-by-Dale has concluded that the fire was started deliberately.

"Firefighters were called to attend the fire in the disused building at 16.21 hours yesterday evening. At the height of the fire, crews from Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Ashbourne and Nottinghamshire’s Highfields, London Road and Stapleford attended the fire, supported by an aerial ladder platform, command unit and water carrier.

"The incident was scaled down to two fire engines at around 23:00 hours, with the final crews leaving the scene just after 06:00 hours today. Firefighters from Ilkeston returned this morning to carry out a reinspection to check for any hot spots.

"Lows Lane was closed during the incident but has now reopened."
