Family pay tribute to “very popular” Derby man
His body was discovered at his home address in William Street
The family of a man from Derby, whose body was found in a flat in the city have paid tribute to him describing him as “the most loving dad; uncle; brother and son.”
Ian Morley, who was also known as Ian Hartley, was discovered at his home address in William Street on Bank Holiday Monday 1 May.
The family of the 47-year-old father said he loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and being with his dogs, and, in a statement, added that his passing will leave “a hole in many people’s lives”.
The family statement says: “Ian was the most loving dad; uncle; brother and son. Fishing was his passion, and he loved being out with his dogs. He loved spending time outdoors enjoying nature. Ian was a very popular man, and his death will leave a hole in many people’s lives.
“He will be sadly missed by us all.
“We ask that our privacy is respected at this time.”
A murder investigation was launched following the discovery of Mr Hartley’s body and an 18-year-old man from Derby was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The investigation has concluded there was no third party involvement.
The 18-year-old man has been released, no further action is being taken against him and a file is being prepared for the Coroner.
