A woman from Derbyshire who suffered a cardiac arrest is urging people to learn how to perform CPR.

60-year-old Helen Cawthorne was saved by lifeguards after going into cardiac arrest 10 years ago.

She says it's important to react quickly when someone collapse and wants others to be prepared to help someone for people who aren't as lucky as her.

Less than one in 10 people who have a cardiac arrest out of hospital survive- and experts say CPR could save lives.

With Restart a Heart a Day taking place on October 16, the awareness day is to raise and help people learn CPR, giving them life saving skills and the confidence to use them.

The Resuscitation Council UK along with the British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, St John Ambulance, NHS Ambulance Service and Saving Lives for Scotland work together to help raise awareness of cardiac arrest and teach CPR.
