Derbyshire to be hit by 'pollen bomb' this weekend
East Midlands one of the worst places to live for hay fever sufferers in the UK, according to research
Allergy experts say a 'pollen bomb's set to hit hay fever sufferers in Derbyshire this bank holiday weekend.
The met office has issued a number of alerts across the country this week, and researchers at Worcester University say the East Midlands has one of the worst pollen counts in the UK so far this year.
More than half of the UK (51%) suffering with allergies it’s less about suns out, guns out, instead it’s a party of itchy throats, running noses and scratchy eyes.
With the most common allergy in the UK being tree and grass pollen (23%), it’s expected to bring additional problems for hay fever sufferers. But it’s not just hay fever impacting the day-to-day lives of people who suffer with allergies.
Research by Dyson also found House dust mites (11%) and animal fur (10%) are also common causes of allergies, whilst 5% of people don’t know what causes their allergy.
The impact – on average, people who suffer with allergies spend over an hour and a half each day (1.72 hours) sneezing and coughing, almost two hours (1.67 hours) blowing their nose and well over an hour (1.43 hours) getting anti-histamines or medication to reduce the symptoms they are experiencing.
