Community projects and groups could be about to benefit from a £1.5 million grant scheme in Derbyshire.

On Thursday 13 January, the Cabinet will consider a report on the new scheme, and if accepted, the new funding could be received by the end of this month.

It’d go towards schemes to support young people, to live a greener life, feeling safe and getting more active.

Its also been revealed that funding has already been awarded to North East Derbyshire District Council to community groups:

Derbyshire County Council leader Councillor Barry Lewis said:

“The council has made a long-standing promise to support communities across Derbyshire to get involved in climate change and the wider sustainability agenda.

"This funding would provide community groups and organisations with green ambitions the chance to make a real difference in our response to climate change and commitment to support biodiversity, sustainability, and the net-zero challenge.”
