Derby MPs says draft Online safety bill isn't robust enough

Online experts in Derby have backed claims that images of child abuse and violence against women could evade new laws.

A group of MPs have been scrutinising draft legislation and say it's not robust enough to tackle some forms of harmful content.

It's claimed it would mean things like deepfakes and cyberflashing could slip through the cracks.

Traci Good runs the Online Safety Hub in Derby and tells us it needs to be tougher:

"The damage that can be done to a young person or an adult if their images are digitally unchanged. And they reveal that they have no recourse to remove the law, so I do feel as if we need to relook at the Online Safety Bill."
