Chesterfield FC will be trialling a 'Covid Secure Area' for their first two home matches of the National League season, starting this Saturday against Wealdstone FC.

It means that mask wearing, and social distancing will be compulsory in blocks 1 and 2 of the East Stand at the Technique Stadium.

It's thought to be one of the first times this has been trialled at a football ground since all Covid restrictions were scrapped earlier this summer.

In a statement, the club say:

"The decision has been made to provide a Covid Secure Area on a trial basis for the first two home fixtures.

"There are supporters, including lapsed season ticket holders, who may still want to attend matches in a Covid-compliant environment.

"Blocks 1 and 2 in the Karen Child Community (East) Stand will therefore be used in this way.

"The situation will be reviewed after the two matches."
