Derbyshire Green party welcomes trial of carbon labels on products
M&S and Costa are some of the big brands taking part in the trial
A new carbon labelling system is being trialled in the UK, including in Derbyshire through brands like M&S and Costa taking part.
It's aiming to look at shopping habits and highlight which products are bad for the environment.
The carbon labeling scheme from Foundation Earth is to also see how much of a carbon footprint the food and drink people of Derbyshire are buying leaves.
With some of the big brands taking part, they hope that smaller businesses take on the initiative in the county too.
The scheme was praised by the Derbyshire Green Party as they welcomed the move.
Darren Yates from the Green party said it could help people make different decisions when they're shopping:
"It can seem so overwhelming so daunting, as individual, what can I really do?
"Individually we're not going to solve the climate crisis that's facing the planet, however, if enough people make enough individual decisions, that will have an impact"
