Buxton International Festival 2022

17 days of operas, concerts, a musical, an oratorio, books, walks, lifestyle events, and a brand-new jazz programme, providing entertainment from morning ‘til night between Thursday 7 July and Sunday 24 July 2022.

The line-up has officially been revealed, and alongside the Festival’s schedule of live performances across its five venues, there is an emphasis on participatory events with lively audience debates as well as opportunities to sing, dance and walk.

CEO Michael Williams said: “Buxton International Festival continues to spread its wings, attracting visitors from all over the UK and beyond, keen to sample its world-class performances and our unique mix of events.”

Here are some of the details -

Five Operas and a Musical (including three brand new productions - Rossini’s La donna del lago; Hasse’s Antonio e Cleopatra; and Styne’s Gypsy: A Musical Fable and a collaboration with Salzburg State Theatre for Donizetti’s Viva la Diva;

Kate Whitley’s Oratorio, Our Future in Your Hands, originally commissioned by the Festival;

A Concerts’ Programme including a joint 50th birthday concert between The Brodsky Quartet and Manchester Camerata;

A Brand New Jazz Programme with Clare Teal, Jess Gillam, Gwilym Simcock and Guy Barker;

A Books Programme with Lord Patten, Lady Hale, Rory Stewart, Jake Fiennes and Booker prize winner, Damon Galgut live from Cape Town.

The Festival brochure will be available from today (Tuesday 15 February), online and in print on Monday 28 February.
