Boy sentenced after driving a car into houses in Derby
It happened on Grampian Way back in February
A 14-year-old boy who drove a car into two houses in the Derby area has been sentenced.
It follows an incident at around 2.30am on Sunday 26 February.
He was given a 12-month referral order, disqualified from driving for two years and ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge.
Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court heard the crash happened after a police officer spotted the Volkswagen Sharan - which had been taken from a nearby property.
After a pursuit "of a matter of seconds", the car crashed into one house at Grampian Way.
One of the homeowners affected spoke of how it had led to living in a hotel room, and it was feared the affected properties may have to be demolished. However, further structural assessments have found that the homes can be saved.
The boy, who can't be named for legal reasons, was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital as a precaution - but was not found to be seriously injured.
He pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance.
