It happened near to the Branston turn
Police and ambulance crews were called to the incident which happened on the southbound carriageway of the A38, between Shobnall and Branston, after a collision involving a grey Lexus and a pedestrian, just after 7pm last night (Thursday 3 November).
Officers closed the A38 in both directions between Branston and Claymills whilst paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service worked at the scene.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical staff, the pedestrian, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are working hard to trace his next of kin.
The driver of the Lexus remained at the scene and was transported to hospital for precautionary checks.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have any dashcam footage or those who may have seen the pedestrian or the vehicle before the collision.
