A hospice in Derbyshire is encouraging people to sign up to their tree-recycling event.

It allows Treetops Hospice to raise money through donations and helps people dispose of their real tree properly,

Vic Rocca is part of the Treecycle programme and explains how it works:

"We collect all the trees from people's driveways at the beginning of January.

"They are then taken to recycling points, and they are then recycled and used for green initiatives.

"We are really lucky to have the support of volunteers who all give up their time to help us do the tree collections."

Not every postcode is eligible but there is a way to check:

"We don't cover all the postcode areas in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire area.

"The best thing to do is to go on the Treecycling website and check that your postcode is covered.

"And then on the registration form making sure you tick the box to say your postcode is collected.

"All the proceeds from Treecycling help us care for patients and families in the local communities and allow us to continue giving our services free of charge to the people that need it the most."
