Fire in Derby city centre started deliberately
Crews were called to Laurie house last night.
A joint investigation into the cause of a large fire in Derby city centre has revealed it was started deliberately.
Firefighters were called to Macklin street just before 9pm last night,
The blaze was initially reported to be on the top floor of the disused Pennine Hotel, but was later located on the 7th level of Laurie House, a former nightclub and office building.
Crews from across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire attended the scene using two aerial ladder platforms and a command support unit to assist firefighting operations which continued well into the night.
