Plans are nearing the go-ahead for the new £6.4m pound facility that will host Workington AFC.
Borough Park, the current home stadium of the football team, is set to be replaced by the "Cumberland Sports Village", a community stadium open to use for anyone within the town.
Workington's Chairman, Phil Norman, believes it's a necessary move for the future of the club: "We spent enormous amount of money maintaining the old facility. On top of that the regs and requirements get tighter and tighter with a facility of this age.
"It's a constant battle.
"A new facility can only make the club a more attractive place to come to. In terms of growing revenue here, we're restricted in every way, look at hospitality, we've got restricted bar opening times."
In terms of where the club will play while they await the development of the new stadium, the future remains unclear.
Phil Continued: "That is under discussion now. We will have to resolve that properly, we have rules and regulations that we have to meet within our league structure."
